NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing

My name is Vinh Luong and I am the Project Coordinator for NSF funded Expanding Computing Education Pathways (ECEP) project at the University of California, Irvine. Our work focuses on providing underrepresented students—particularly girls and students of color—with the opportunities to access and explore Computer Science as a potential academic and career goal.

The application for the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing opens tomorrow, September 1, 2015. Please find information about this award, a link to the registration and a flyer below. Can you please share this opportunity with your teachers, counselors, parents, and students?

The NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing recognizes young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests. Winners are recognized at an award event in our community. All applicants will also be considered for the National Award.

NCWIT, the National Center for Women & Information Technology, is a not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that women are fully represented in the influential worlds of information technology and computing.

In 2007, NCWIT began recognizing girls for their aspirations and achievements in computing via the NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing. By generating visibility for technical young women the award encourages continued interest in computing, increases awareness of the gender gap in computing and IT, and emphasizes at a personal level the importance of women's participation in computing.
