HSA'S HEALTH OCCUPATIONS STUDENTS OF AMERICA (HOSA) TEAM ATTENDS STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE IN ONTARIO
Workshops and competitions focused on medical themed issues and occupations.
Members of HSA's first Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Team attended the organization's State Leadership Conference held in Ontario, California from March 11th - 14th.
Over 1,200 students from all over California joined together to participate in motivational general sessions, delegate meetings, competitive events, leadership workshops and even a dance. Students on the HSA HOSA team competed in medical themed events such as medical math, medical photography, a biomedical debate and sports medicine. Ana H., one of three HSA students in the competition focused on sports medicine, made it past the preliminary round and earned one of the spots in the final round. This was quite an accomplishment considering that she was up against 50-70 other students, most of whom were juniors and seniors. While she did not advance to the national competition, we are so proud of her and all of our students and excited about the potential for next year!
The students were able to raise funds to attend the conference thanks to the generosity of Bartlett Insurance Services and Choice Administrators. They donated a Dell Inspiron laptop computer that was part of an opportunity drawing that raised almost $2,500 for our HOSA chapter. Our sincere thanks to Paul Bartlett of Bartlett Insurance Services, Lanette Plascencia of Choice Administrators (pictured right) and everyone who participated in the opportunity drawing for their generosity!
