About Me

I graduated from Cerritos Community College with an AA in Literature and Languages in 2013. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in English in 2016. I have been working in education since 2013 in various capacities. I have volunteered as an adult literacy tutor, conducted ethnographic research at Roses in Concrete Community School in East Oakland, worked as a substitute teacher in multiple districts, worked as a 1 on 1 Behavior Interventionist in Boyle Heights, and worked as a Special Education teacher in the Oakland Unified School District. Much of my educational philosophy has been influenced by my personal hero Dr. Jeff Duncan-Andrade; founder of Roses in Concrete Community School, Oakland Unified Teacher, and Professor of Race and Resistance studies at San Francisco State University. In addition to my work in education, I have volunteered and interned with Causa Justa::Just Cause, a housing rights organization in Oakland that combats gentrification by advocating for low income tenants, informing tenants of their rights, and organizing tenants to exercise their political power to create policy changes.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my partner and our daughter; I enjoy going on walks in nature, listening to music, watching movies, eating, and painting. I am excited to continue to support our scholars and develop their ability advocate for themselves and be agents of change in our community and the world.
