Hello, my name is Jesus Ortega and I teach English at PBS-HSA. I am a first generation college graduate. I attended community college for a couple of years while I worked to save up money to help pay for my education and to help my family out during some financial challenges. After overcoming some stressful moments in life, I transferred to UCLA, where I majored in English and minored in Education. While at UCLA I had the realization that I wanted to help more members of my community attend college; therefore, I decided to become a teacher in hope of making a difference. This is now my third year teaching and I am still excited to continue with my mission as I work amongst a great and supportive school staff as well as an amazing student body. I always feel privileged to have the opportunity of working with such bright, resourceful, and overall amazing students.

I personally do not know how to describe myself; therefore, I will allow you to come to your own conclusions about me. I love films (horror, comedy, action-adventure, etc.), TV (anime, streaming services, etc.), gaming (Switch, PC, PlayStation, etc.), reading (Horror, British lit, Short stories, Shakespeare, etc.), art (painting, vinyl design, etc.), eating different cultural foods, collecting pins and pops, hiking, going out, and overall spending time with my loved ones.
